Not because drawing itself is the most difficult thing necessarily, but because no matter how good you are, you're still just a dime a dozen. I fancy myself a pretty good artist, but in the professional field that's like being fast in the NFL; it doesn't make you special. Then it's even tougher if you decide you don't want anything to do with corporations or academia and decide to go freelance. The term "starving artist" is freaking true. Essentially, trying to "make it" in the art world is like trying to be a rockstar.

Many people are talented at stuff, but only a select few make it.

You draw a painting and it's only worth $100 while another person makes something similar and sells for $10K.

The same concept apply to certain luxury brands. A plain white shirt for $300 or a plain white shirt for $10.

That's probably one of the toughest pills to swallow; that at the end of the day your chances are based on luck and chance rather than the art you produce. With the internet age especially I've seen a rise in the overall skill level of your average artist as well, so I foresee an even smaller job pool in the future. Everyone's too good now essentially.

True. I more meant people see drawing or painting as less glamorous, but the concept remains the same across most artforms.
