I don't think it would go at all.

My county was one of the last in the state to start reopening at all, and now that it has, the county chairperson or whoever the hell it is is advocating for the "keep the county open" campaign. The guy was really hesitant to do any sort of re-opening but I guess the council put enough pressure on him or something.

Rent is one of the biggest expense a small business faces. Many are going to e-commerce as a way to survive.

Where was the outrage in December when top medical scientists were saying this was a big deal? Everyone was waiting for everyone else to pick a side and if you think these pieces of s*** in high places give a single f*** about you then you need to grow up.

Florida stayed open for a long time. My neighbours who are snowbirds said nobody in Florida knew much about the virus. Once they heard from Canadian news once Trudeau announced Canadians to return back they did mid-March.

1. Um..yeah it did..did you not see the deaths decreasing and cases leveling off? This is easily searchable, publicly available information...
2. That was a disorganized mess of states doing their own thing, half the citizens not listening, and some protesting the lockdown...and it STILL worked a bit. Imagine how well it would have worked if half our citizens weren't brainwashed Trump sheep?

The MAGA people number the millions and they would purposefully ignore all instructions, cough on others, piss on masks, attack doctors.

It would be a disaster.

Don't get me wrong, I think if Americans on the whole were pragmatic and intelligent then another lockdown is the correct move.

But a lockdown of less than 210 million adults where 60 million of them will actively refuse and oppose it is completely pointless at opposing anything.

The right wing wins again as always because the left is spineless as always.

They allowed basic science, health and lives to be considered a political thing

The first shutdown shouldn't have lifted when it did. You wouldn't need a second shutdown if things were still shut down, which would have helped to curb the Covid19 spread.

Well, which is it?
You first said "it didn't work" and now you're saying
"Well duh, of course it would work."

The goal is to close in an organized manner and not reopen until we actually get past the first wave. That would successfully get our cases down to near nothing and buy us a lot more time until it spiked up to enormous levels again. Plus we'd return with social distancing and masks...which would hold it off even longer. Thats why almost every other developed country is past their first wave and ours is still getting worse.
You're wrong because we have evidence from the rest of the world that it works.

A full nationwide shutdown in February or March and we would have been mostly over Covid by now.
