The 2019 Challenger R/T recommends 89 for best performance, but 87 can be substituted if 89 isn't available.

Eh, I like mine.

In an age where a lot of cars now are just sculpted blobs to max fuel econ, it's nice to see something stick to its guns a little bit.

Looked it up and for the 5.7L Hemi, it apparently depends on the type of transmission: plus for automatic and premium for manual.

Random people on the internet know more than the engineers who made the car?

its widely known that most manuals will say dont ever use regular for sports cars. After a lot of research you realize its not that big of a difference.

does everyone Have to argue about everything here

Then use 89 ("Plus") or whatever the next available step above regular is unless you can flash the ECU to take full advantage of 91+ octane fuel. Other than that, the only other reason to ever go higher is if you notice your engine knocking while using the required grade.

Recommendations and requiring are two different things. Surely you understand that. This post has been addressed already. Obviously you dont know anything so just hit exit please. As you can see it recommending premium and everyone saying just use plus. Smh

It will run fine on regular if it's "premium recommended"

If it's premium required, best put premium in that thing

As a 2019 Challenger R/T owner myself, just put midgrade.

If you're in a pinch, you can get by with regular.

I advocate 91+

It is true that the ECU can compensate and adjust timing, but the car was primarily designed for the highest octane. No offense, but if you wanted to save on fuel, you bought the wrong car.

Also this, but the R/T is more grunt than performance. The Scat Pack and Hellcats are the premium only hogs, the R/T is that blend of practicality(for a coupe) and occasional giggle at the traffic light.
