I liked the old character he put on for sure. And it was believable. Mid 20's dude drinking shitty ass beer sitting in his (probably parent's) basement playing the video games he grew up with and getting pissed off. I don't know how much he was trying to be funny back in the day but he was good (or maybe Mike Matei did this) at finding so-bad-it's-funny moments to pick on in games.

the problem with avgn for several years is that it's clear his heart is not in it and he doesn't want to do it anymore because he has to for the sake of his channel because it's his most popular content
