It's a really nice place here, and I feel super comfortable, but it seems like every year it gets worse. Less activity, I mean, most folks don't even really care about gaming anymore. I don't really see this site making a resurgence, do you guys?

There's like on average 2000 people logged on, is that a lot? Sounds like a lot to me, but I have a feeling it's not much compared to other message boards.

Its not like this is the only forum out there, and the community here can be quite toxic honestly.

I love this site so much, I love interacting with yall so much even though we don't agree on everything, but I'm seriously going to consider this.

I need to leave too but what the fuck else is there. No one really openly judges you here if you're honest. It truly is a safe space when I'm feeling my worst. Also the once-in-a-blue-moon venting that occurs in Flashpoint topics is fun, but also probably unhealthy.

I've moved onto mostly mobile games since I can play them at work. And they're good in short bursts.

I just feel like this place doesn't really hold up against places like Quora. I've just been here for so long it's hard to let go. I haven't gamed since 2015, the only boards I go to are the MA board, Fitness board and CE. 2 of those boards are pretty inactive. I'm just so used to the format here and everything, It's hard to let go of a place I feel so comfortable and has really been there for me during some of the worst times of my life.

Why CBS hasn't shut the forums down already, with a thin "our audience uses facebook and twitter now" like IMDB Wizards, of the Coast, etc., is a big mystery

The forums are the only thing left on this site that matters to me IMO. Gamepedia / gamepress / other wiki's have completely destroyed traditional guide authoring.

The community sucks sometimes but it's also my home on the internet and even when I hate everyone I know IRL I don't just walk away from them because I know those feelings will pass and they'll still be there. It's kinda the same with CE.

From your post, it seems like you have to make an ultimatum for yourself. You don't have to officially "leave". Come to the site or don't, however often it may or may not be. If you never come back again, then you just never come back.

Its true peak was before i ever had an account but iirc it was legit like the third most trafficked website in 2003 or so.

Somewhere post 2010, Gamefaqs became the most reasonable large community on the internet. You can actually have people with different views. You have liberals, conservatives, and centrists. The echo chamber took the rest of the internet.

If you would have told me in 2005 that gamefaqs would be the most reasonable community in 2020, I would have thought you were nuts. Facebook seemed great at the time too though and now it is a site for right wing radicalization, so lol.
