Before this whole pandemic, I would have considered Canada to be basically the same thing as the United States. But now that Canada has contained the virus much better than the United States has, it's hard to keep saying this. Not to mention Canada has extremely competent leadership by comparison. But am I alone in this opinion? Like if you're American and you think Toronto, does that seem like a city in a foreign country?

Canada is basically just the USA but all the terrible things are toned down a bit, so it doesn't seem as bad.

We're basically the little brother who everyone looks at better because the older sibling keeps getting in trouble. We get off scott free so long as its not quite as bad.

Of course it's foreign. Hell, even Canadians themselves view its Quebecian province from another place.

Also, to put things in perspective, Canada has around 37 million (at the most) people scattered accross a vast land.

The us has around 300,000,000 more with a bit less land.

Not really, the vast majority live very close to the US border, most of the country is uninhabited.

No. No not in the least. Washington state is like an uglier friendlier canada in my experience.

Uglier infrastructure and wilderness wise. Not people wise.

Though i will say i see a lot more very overweight people even in oroville or wenatchee than up here.
