Every other chapter made me either angry or depressed, but despite all the tragedy, suffering, and melancholy there was enough of an upward trend in circumstances that I was compelled to keep reading to see what happened.
Then the story ends. It ends in a place that feels like the middle of its own story. The book never made any implicit promises on where the characters were going to end up, so I had no expectations. Which means, given the open ended nature of the ending, I have no frame of reference to expect anything of those characters fate. I guess things will just sort of keep going. Still. This was the way I felt about Catcher in the Rye.

I too read a book once.
It was great, you should all read this book I won't tell you the name of. It helped change my perspective on things, and realise how easily small things can be missed for one person, but have a big impact on someone else. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
