As a classical musician, I totally agree. A lot of Classical musicians show a lot of elitism. I think its lost on a lot of them that its not different than other music conceptually, just aurally, yknow?

I can only really speak for the fans (the musicians I've seen seem more down to earth, perhaps humbled by how hard their job is), but I get a bit tired of how sterile the format is expected to be, and also how many seem to take it as confirmation of their intelligence that they like classical music over say, hip hop.

What is your instrument?

This sonata is great, btw. Surprised I haven't heard it before.

Thats it. Romantic period, not classical period, but classical as the overarching genre. I dont like the fact that classical music encompasses baroque, classical, and romantic periods, but what can you do?

I did, it was lovely. I'll be honest and say that I generally don't like piano/violin duets because they always seem to be transcribed performance pieces instead of something actually intended to be played that way (as in, "here's an excuse to play the Carmen Fantasy, isn't the violinist clever"), so it was nice to hear something actually written for it.

I don't know much about Franck so its a good start.

Yeah, I really like early Romanticism, Schubert, Mendelssohn, late Beethoven.

I was raised on it by my dad. He will probably be buried with Wagner and Tchaikovsky cds. Ive gotten a pretty solid listening education from baroque 1685 post (the big year) to a cap off with early Soviet composers. Never pursued listening to much classical outside of that time frame. There is some good organ keyboard music pre 1685 though, like Frescobaldi.

Oh, if you want pre-Baroque keyboards, Buxtehude organ preludes are the JAM

Damn dude that's awesome!! Definitely a feather in your cap!
He seems pretty cool and knows his shit.

That video is a little scripted, but it a good way. It is very well done.

~Bravo!

Edit mods, I got a warning message for this post.
I think I know, but it took me a moment to find out.
I think the auto screening is miss-reading something.
