Just got back from doing something legal outside and saw this hit out of the corner of my eye -



"Major military operation underway throughout country."

I admit, my adrenaline surged up for a bit and was, not having a panic attack, but like, "holy shit, here we go."

Clicked back to see what the fuck was going on and saw it was just apart of the movie that was on, but the way it was on the TV looked like it would appear if it was something that was really going on

tl;dr - When the radio show first aired a lot of people freaked out because they thought a real alien invasion was happening. Here, I thought the military really was taking over the country for about 30 seconds.

Imagine if they recreated that radio show for todays world like with modern effects on a televised news report that convinced a bunch of us. Thatd be interesting.

P.S. My Vietnam vet friend told me he thought the 1930s radio show was a government operation to see how certain civilian populations managed an evacuation.

Because the only thing on the screen was a movie and a Breaking News flash at the bottom of the screen telling me the military was taking the country over. The actor was watching TV in the movie/show and that news bulletin came up. So what happened to the guy in the movie, him seeing Breaking News of some crazy shit happening, I thought it was happening to me for a second because what he was watching was exactly what I would have seen if it were real
