Yeah, well I'm from Utica and I've never heard of any class thing.
I ... don't know what the significance of Utica is, but there are class accents as well as regional accents in England, just to make things more complicated.

Basically it's just lazy enunciation: slurring. Again, it's a class thing. I know a lot of Americans must get the impression that half of us talk like we're Downton Abbey aristocrats while the other half talk like Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins, but in reality most of us don't sound like either.

I've a suspicion that Endemol (the production company) cast the housemates to suit the tastes of what they thought was BB's core audience.

I remember walking around the streets of London with my box of Cheerios. "Cheerio, mate!" I would say as I pulled one out of the box and flicked it at the nearest passerby.

Nearly got beat up a couple times for that one.
SMH

We expect people to offer it over, not flick it. Small buggers are hard to catch and don't want them going on the ground.

Did you try the standard "British person when abroad" method of shouting and speaking slowly?

I get that its a class thing but its weird that the lower class British accent sounds as stupid to us as it does to the British themselves.
