I remember seeing strange things as a kid. Its hard to know what was real and what wasnt in childhood memories though. I think most people experienced some sort of unexplainable phenomena as a child that may or may not have been real.

I once saw an apparition of a little girl when spending the night at a friend's house. I asked her if the apartment was haunted the next day and she asked if I saw the girl.

i believe youre thinking of sleep paralysis which is definitely just a trick of the mind rather than an external stimuli. I get this sometimes if I sleep on my back. A lot of times Ill see a large spider crawling on the wall or something and then itll slowly fade away and then Im fully awake and able to move around

i dont believe in the idea of ghosts literally being the spirits of dead people. I do think that sometimes things happen that just cant be explained though. Whether theyre actually real or just within the mind of the observer is entirely up for interpretation most of the time

This is exactly what it is. It happens to everyone from time to time. I once woke up and a figure was climbing through my bedroom window, and I was staring at it and couldnt move. Slowly I fully woke up and the figure faded away until I was just staring at my window on a normal morning.

I can't tell you how many times someone has started a ghost story with this one time I woke up and... and Im thinking wait, you can stop right there. You were simply still dreaming and not fully awake yet.

I'm not sure, but when I was a kid and we moved into our new house, while I was trying to sleep, I saw this silhouette of a head in the moon's light on the wall.

it totally freaked me out, especially since my room was on the second floor. I felt like it ruled out someone trying to peek through my window since there was also no sound to accompany the image, and no trees on that side of the house.

luckily, I was able to convince my brother to change rooms.

I saw a moving shadow on the wall at my parents home when I crashed there post college. Was one of those times I woke up in the middle of the night and couldnt go back to sleep. It was a small circle and moved fast. Was right next to my bed.

Also have had a handful of loud poltergeist experiences. Always in a room next to the one Im in. Had them pretty bad at one of my old apartments - would hear bangs from either my bathroom, my closet, or the kitchen. Have had similar experiences at my parents house too.

i remember -- as a kid, of course -- having the perception one night that i saw a cat running down the hallway, and after i chased it to the wall it disappeared.
my mom says that when i was very young, like pre-speech, i would sometimes look intensely at random locations as if i were seeing something that wasn't there

i do recall having a pretty good visual imagination as a kid, especially before going to sleep, but that's long gone

Not a ghost, no, as there's no reasonable evidence to point to their existence.

I do remember when I was about 5 years old waking up and seeing a stranger in the hallway across from my bed who looked into the room at me and then turned back and kept walking down the hall. Of course, as people have already mentioned in this topic, it was almost certainly sleep paralysis.

It's a bit of a long story to really elaborate on, but to summarize as best I can.

Was home alone at 14. Walk down stairs and see nothing but black. Assume lights are off and windows covered. Walk through darkness, hear creepy laugh, see while lights are off windows have plenty of sunlight shining through.

Assume it's paranoia or something. Walk back upstairs, hear knocking, see my door is closed. Open door and see nothing. Turn back to close door, then turn around to see shadow thing with red eyes looking at me.

Hear creepy laugh again, feel hands around my throat. Squeezing keeps getting tighter. Shadow thing disappears, look in mirror and see clear signs of hands around my throat and can see the outlines of fingers.

Family comes home, explain what happened. Nobody believes me. Show my neck but there's nothing there. Left alone in confusion and fear wondering what happened.

I should also mention before that never experienced anything like that, and while that particular incident never happened again I have seen it since on a few occasions afterwards. Even tried to take a picture of it once to show I wasn't just seeing things but it never showed up in the picture.

So I don't talk about it much. I've heard every excuse from I'm just straight up lying, to I have some form of psychosis or some shit.
