If my whole family comes I want to live somewhere far less shallow. I know shallow exists everywhere, but I feel like we're next level shallow. I just want stuff to ve simple. As long as it's somewhere with a toilet and not a million things that can kill my outside. Id love to live in one those little villages. One where the majority of your chores are outdoors.

Honestly, I could do away with tv and smartphones as long as everyone around me did too. In America, if you wanna live like that, it just becomes far more annoying when everyone else is still doing it and ignoring you lol.

Yep. I'd like to live in Canada or maybe even the UK instead of the US, but it's EXTREMELY difficult to just get citizenship and I have no real means or opportunity to do so. However, I still try to keep in mind the "grass is always greener" and maybe I'm better off here.

After all this pandemic shit, Im leaning towards it way more now than ever.

And its not even just the embarrassing way that our leadership has handled it, its the fucking smooth-brains who act like shit like having to wear a mask is this huge violation of their rights.

Like, its just so amazing to me that people can be that completely ignorant about why its important to practice social distancing, wear a mask, etc. and we just.. let em get away with it.

I suffer from second hand embarrassment to be honest.

To an extent, sure. Without the clothes limitation and forced religious stuff. I'm just kind of over this overcomplicated bullshit everyone has built around them and us. I'd be much more into a life where people appreciate stuff like water and sitting around a table conversating more than we appreciate smartphones and having anything we want delivered at the touch of a button. And I've come to the realization, I don't have the ability to mentally escape these things unless I don't have access to them. If I don't have access, I immediately accept it and I thrive way more.

But it's fine. I know that's just not how shit is and I gotta learn how to make it work in reality. I'm not someone who needs his way to be content. And hell, for all I know I'm just on a phase where I constantly want to be doing yard work and playing simple non electronic games with others.

I know what my argument is. My argument is that you know nothing about the world if you think the US is the only country with free speech, or any different from other modern democracies.

It's not inherently sad to love where you grew up. But I get where you're going with the rest of the context if that post.

I also live where I grew up. And I wouldn't leave unless my entire family and friends did. We just always got along and it's hard for me to imagine trying to find people who have my back as strong as they do.

What Canada got right was protecting their existing Citizens by making immigration tough.

Europe has tough immigration laws.

Everybody should be raising the bar on immigration.

Always find it amusing to see how many of the losers who hate America so much acknowledge that they don't have any skills that make them desireable to any other country. Somehow they don't think that other countries having merit based immigration is disgracefully racist like the country they desire to flee.

In terms of other English speaking first world country's...no. I really dont see the point when I can likely find the same or similar here.

Which alot of people dont realize becuase even most Americans view of the country is shaped entirely around mainstream media, and inner city shitholes.

Not really, you kind of need a reason to be there and it's a lengthy process. My brother had to go to college there (straight out of highschool) and get a green card to work and it took him YEARS maybe even a DECADE to get approved. It was quite the undertaking. Unless you can provide evidence to the contrary I'm calling BS.

No. I love where I live and I can't imagine moving. I've grown disillusioned with the country as a whole, but I love the part on NY I live in. Downtown Saratoga is a 5 minute drive, head North for 10 minutes and I'm in the Adirondacks, great nightlife and tons of rural farm land. I genuinely love the area I live.

If you have a Bachelors degree + 3 years of experience or a masters degree + 1 year then you'd have enough to get permanent residency in Canada. Or you could get a work permit under NAFTA, working a Canadian job makes Permanent residence pretty much guaranteed.

Getting approved for permanent residence takes about 6-10 months.

Getting citizenship is around 4 years, but you don't need citizenship to live in Canada.

I moved to Canada from the UK, I had to go through the same process.

If he's been there since 2004 and hasn't gotten citizenship then that's just a personal choice that he's made. There are no restrictions on dual citizenship, he just hasn't done it.

My being from the UK doesn't change anything, I was just using it as an example that it's possible to move to Canada from a foreign country. It's probably easier to move to Canada from the US simply because of NAFTA and that you share a border, making networking a work transfer easier.
