It's bad especially because this bill was going to account for a lot of people who were left out of the last bill.

After the moratorium on evictions ends a lot of people will be going homeless with nothing. That's unacceptable and America should be ashamed.

If you're evicted or the landlord is foreclosed, the end result is the same.
You're better off evicted in that case anyway, as it takes longer to clear the courts than a foreclosure.

Damn, the Dems should have taken the 4 month UI extension bill at $400 a week. Though it was missing a lot of stuff, so I guess they didn't want to give in.

there's some businesses in oregon (1 or 2 county's) that got reverted to stay at home order and stage 1. which means some are out of work if it's not considered an essential business.

they alone would definitely benefit from it along with other states that are dealing with some form of shutdown within a county.

We're in the middle of a pandemic, buddy. Jobs aren't exactly plentiful in a time when a lot of businesses aren't allowed to be open or aren't legally able to be open to full capacity.

I would probably need it. My place isn't giving me any hours for the next week or two, but I'm still technically employed. So I dunno if I qualify for the unemployment, but if it was $600 a month, that would have been pretty helpful since my rent is $520.

I agree that company should be hold accountable if their employees get the virus and protecting them from getting it. Feel like Elon and Jeff had a talk with Mitch McConnell when they were talking about this bill.

When youre dealing with 535 people representing 300+ million people, there will be arguments. This is not inaction, this is Congressional action.

I certainly believe that more expeditious action is warranted here.

So place a moratorium on foreclosures. The banks can handle 6 months delayed and refinanced mortgage. People should not be forced out of their homes for failure to pay (if they can't) during a continuing pandemic.

Yet there are still millions of people going to work each day and just dealing with the possibility (minimum wage all the way up through millionaires). Why should people, who COULD work but refuse, get a free ride while everyone else is out doing their jobs?

If people don't want to work because they want to stay in with their family and keep safe I can understand. But they aren't staying in. They are going out every night, taking vacations. Restaurants are busier now then they were this time last summer (true fact in my town). Alot of these people aren't even acknowledging the virus until the topic of work comes up.

Pretty sure Target, Walmart, Mcdonalds, or Amazon wont take all 30 million people that are out of work

Not to mention some people (like me) have families and would rather not risk getting them all sick if I dont have to

No one said those companies would absorb all of them. There are jobs available out there however (quite a few where I live have help wanted signs out) across the businesses open.

If you accept the consequences of not working (ie: no income) because you believe that is best for you and your family, that is your right. I fully support you making that choice.

However, this is where living with your choices come into play. It is not your right to demand that I give you money from my paycheck I earn each week to support your decision to not work. You choose to not work, you choose no income. Deal with it.

How do you feel about big corporations who were very irresponsible with their money now begging for bailouts which come from your tax dollars?

stimulus is dumb and pretty clear just an attempt to buy votes. If you're working you don't need help and basing it off last year's income is a terrible gauge for who needs help this year. If anything offer an additional tax credit of $500-1k for anyone who earns under ~40-50k this year.

unemployment should be extended.
