Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda game and it isn't even close

I'm normally not a huge fan of open world games but something about it just clicked with me

Yeah, I enjoy the puzzles well enough and I don't get that comment, but I'd say my only complaint with the puzzles are the shrine backdrop in all of them.

I'm telling ya, instead of 15 overworld areas, have 15 massive dungeons. A big dungeon the size of Akkala? Put the emphasis on exploration to find the things you need to move forward. Make it themed in a way that specifically utilizes an item or Sheikah Slate ability.

If BotW2 is Oops! All Dungeons! I'll be so happy

Edit: Actually, a BOTW styled Metroidvania is something I'd be super into. Metroidvanias are my actual favorite thing. I'm not as huge into sandbox games, but I love when they give me a sandbox and put in constraints.

I think Metroidvanias have a little much in the place of backtracking that I wouldn't necessarily want in this vision, but returning to dungeons with items from later dungeons to get to new areas (to get heart pieces/stamina vessels, and not korok seeds) would be cool.

Although, they could take a page out of LBW and make it so that you had a choice between dungeon areas, but need to explore all three (or however many) to get the items from all to finish all to unlock the next set. Something like that maybe.

I think they could be creative about it and make it so when you do progress through an area in this theoretical game, it changes up for the next time. Like those guardians or whatever have a place taken over, but when you complete that area, the Bokoblins come in and there's other locations you can go. I dunno, they have options. If they're ambitious enough they can make revisiting areas a new experience.

I would find an all-dungeon BotW to be totally miserable lol, but at least it would make some people happy

Got to admit I'm somewhat afraid to play this game and find it doesn't stack up to my favorite Zeldas.

It does sound like what the franchise needed but not really my idea of Zelda.

man this is such a bad post.

Rain in the game is brilliant. The game can be broken by climbing everywhere, but rain forces you to actually find alternate paths to your destination, it keeps you from just walking paths out of force of habit.

There are like, two lyonels you have to fight in the whole game. They're endurance matches until you become good, thats the point. You build up your resources and fight them when you're ready. The only time you're forced to fight on with the resources on hand is the final dungeon so if you don't have the resources to fight it then you're bad?

The korok seed reward is hilarious. There's no reward thats worth finding every single one of the seeds, the game isn't designed for people to find them all, just the amount they need. Once you've found them all you're probably done with the game. If they had made the reward something amazing like "play zelda in new game plus" or something more people would have gone for them all and burned out on the game. Considering it's one of the most successful games this gen, it shows they made the right choice.

it sounds like you just want this game to cater to your id urges, and theres plenty of those in the gaming world.

This game couldve been a lot better if moving around and playing with the physics was seamless and fun. Link is so clunky, the buffer makes movement and combat a chore, and the only time you can really play with the physics is with your stupid spells. For a game based around doing whatever the hell you want it sure feels limiting.

I have done 64 shrines and explored most of the ice area to the north. I understand that's barely over half of the shrines. That seems impossible. lol

Anyway, my favorite horse, Bad Horse, died to a lynel. Feels bad. I guess I'll see what's up with the Gerudo ice area and get the last tower next time. Do I get anything for completing the full map?

Also there is a way to revive horses, but you have to find it
