I'm trying to simply eat less and incorporate more veggies and fruit and less carbs.

You have to be careful otherwise it's a carbfest and if you are middle aged it all goes to the belly so you look like you drink beer and not exercise.

There are low carb beers with like 2 or 3 grams of carbs but most of them taste like ass outside of maybe Lagunitas Daytime IPA or Deschutes Da Shootz Pilsner. --- Clean Butt Crew ... I lost 60lbs in a year while spending two to three days of the week mind-blisteringly shitfaced, though that was clearly not optimal, for weight loss, physical health, or... anything, really. My point is, count your calories/macros, decide if the beer is worth it, and build around that. It's possible.
