Chadwick69 08/08/20 1:24:17 AM #1:	So with how easily people are labeled pedophiles lately I have been engaging in conversations with people about this. What exactly makes someone a pedophile? People seem to view it many different ways and I'd like to talk about it in a civil discussion. They are a pedophile because it is illegal. So this is where a lot of debate comes from, the law. People say that if you have sexual interaction with anyone under the age 18 you are a pedophile because it is illegal. This begs the question, what about places where the law is different? Example, age of consent in some states in America is 16 years old, like Alaska. If I have sexual intercourse with a 16 year old in Alaska and then move to California, am I suddenly a pedophile? And then we have extremes where in other countries the age of consent is 13. Just food for thought. Body type and age. Now the physical aspect of it, put two girls side by side that are fully physically developed, one is 17 and one is 21, and you don't know their age. If you are attracted to both girls, are you a pedophile? You're likely to say no as they are both fully physically developed and you have no way of telling their age from a glance. What about those rare types of women that are of age but look like children? Would a man who dates them be considered not a pedophile? Personal conclusion Personally, I believe that if you are attracted to prepubescent body types(This includes loli porn) you are a pedophile. If you are attracted to fully developed 16-17 year olds, you're making bad decisions and you probably have mental issues but I don't think you're a pedophile. CE's conclusion?: I want to know what you guys think about pedophilia. What makes someone a pedophile in your eyes? The number of their age? The body? The law? These mental conditions are real. The wrong is when you go after kids because they can't consent. You can't really come out and seek help about it since there's so much stigma against it. The moment you tell a psychologist or therapist, you're put on a government list and your privacy is completely gone. I also think that jokes and stereotypes about pedophiles don't really help the situation. One of my sexual abusers was so outside of the stereotype that nobody would've ever suspected them in a million years. Even when I started telling people about that particular incident years later, I wasn't believed because they "didn't look like a pedophile." And while it's understandable that this topic is uncomfortable and can be taken in the worst way possible, I think conversations like this are important. We shouldn't normalize pedophilia but we really need to be able to have more open dialogue about this. My other attacker had struggles going back to his early teens and tried to get help but there was nowhere to turn. Perhaps he was always destined to offend but maybe he wouldn't have if he could've talked to someone and gotten real help. I absolutely understand the sensitivity and pitch forks about the subject, believe me, but I think it's misguided and probably way more harmful. As for the actual topic, I don't really have any input.
