I figured TC meant through an app like Iheart radio or something. Like an actual FM receiver? Is that a thing?

Radio can be more than music. Local radio might be hit or miss but with an app that lets you listen to stations from around the world... pretty cool.

Yeah. I've never used one, but have had phones with the capability. You could use it for local stations without using data.
