They use the profits to take on Steam by buying out timed exclusives. They're using it to boost Unreal Engine and their online systems. Now they're using it to take on Apple and Google. They'd need to shut down mobile gaming if they did. They want their 30% and they want every single type of video game in their store to be under their control. That's why they're banning stuff like Game Pass and gave Steam a tough time for the Steam Link app. Because that doesn't give them a 30% cut.
