Got it on PC last night for around $26.99. I should expect around a minimum of couple hundred hours of game play? I hope it's like MGS5 and Monster Hunter World where you gotta do some shit to get other shit which affects multiple shits which pretty much gives us hundreds of hours of game play. If not then I still hope to get a lot out of the game.

It is a 12 hour game stretched to 50 hours by a pointless level system.

This was fine for me; sneaking around is my fetish. But it's just intentionally poor game design.

Potentially big spoilers, you've been warned:
The only way to play is to find the weapon/rune that massively increases your damage and lowers your health asap, and then run the rest of the game like that.

The story was fine, but I hated the leveling system. It won't be a problem if you like to do absolutely everything, but it really dragged out the story if that was all you focused on.

Story is terrible, disjointed and most of what you do is pointless. There's a ton of filler content, they definitely put way too much time in developing side characters instead of the central plot. Also the pace is terrible, they drop the biggest plot revelation in like the middle of the game...

First DLC was OK, nothing groundbreaking. I haven't even touched Atlantis yet just got burned out

To expound upon my thoughts: I never got bored of sneaking into forts and taking out enemies in new ways. They did a really good job with the "loop" in Odyssey, where I always felt like I was getting either a new ability or new gear, something I could put to use on the next quest.

I got a good 100+ hours out of AC Odyssey, from basically trying to do everything as I was going through it.

The level scaling sucks because stuff at a higher level than you is just way to stupidly OP, where someone 1-2 levels higher than you can probably one-shot you, but all the levels scale so you'll never be able to superman-wreck anything.

The Gear loop is pretty fun, you pretty much always get something better up until you get a set of legendary armour, and then you stick with the one broken set and just kind of try upgrading it as much as you possibly can because its extra abilities are so much better than the generic armour.

If you like other big open world type games, you should love AC Odyssey. Or if you didn't, since AC Odyssey is still really the only open-world RPG that I've been interested enough to actually finish.

This is not my experience with the game. Things level with you but if you do side quest and other activities you'll consistently be two levels higher than most of the content. In addition your abilities and equipment become disproportionally stronger than enemy leveling.

If you're like me and skipped everything besides the main quest, there are a few points where the main quest is suddenly 3-7 levels above you. And getting those levels are not quick. It felt like the game forced me to do side content. Normally I'm fine with side content, but it just did not interest me in Odyssey.

Kassandra is bae and I like the combat system over Origins, but Origins has a better story to it.

I personally enjoyed going around Ancient Greece a ton and I like that over Ancient Egypt. There is a decent amount of bloat though, but I never got bored tbh. Had tons of fun, have 138 hours into it and the two DLCs. Second DLC >>>>> the first one tho.

It's been a while, but I know the big hammers got battlefields done the quickest, and I think daggers allowed for some mobility tricks or something. I loaded points into all the stuff that gave bonuses to special meter or stealth damage early on, and I found that high damage low health rune about a third of the way into the game.

Besides the fact that you cant out level enemies, you are heavily gear dependent.

So if you find a good set that matches your build and upgrade it, a couple levels give you a very noticeable drop in performance against whoever you choose to fight.

If you say fuck it and just go with a mixed set of whatever you come across the hit is almost as bad as out leveling your gear.

Honestly, the best is Warrior and Assassin. You get enough points to spec out well in each. From the Hunter tree I would only pick up Devastating Shot and a level of Sixth Sense.

It isn't a huge deal though you can always repec for cheap.

Assassin tree will get shit done the fastest, some warrior makes battlefields go quickly, and hunter gives you a few easy skips, but overall it's the least efficient for the meter.

I went hardcore in assassin and second in warrior.

Also used daggers and the engraving to make all damage poison and extra damage behind people.

The game becomes super easy mode when you get a point in the assassin skill that makes all bodies you kill by assassinations disappear automatically.

I wouldn't do all skills in both. For instance you don't need poison and fire, you can pick one or the other.

You also really only need one crowd control skill (bull rush or circle of chaos). Then just fiddle around a bit. After all you only have so many ability slots.

If you are getting the gold edition I believe that gives you access to the DLC abilities too which are fairly good. Honestly im at a point in the 3rd episode of one of the DLCs and I have about 11 leftover points because I dont need anymore abilities. I find the bow and arrow pointless when I have an ability that let's me assassinate 5 guys with a single spear throw.

And people talking about builds I guess I'm confused on. I just ended up equipping whatever weapon and gear matched my level and didn't have a hard time. Its frustrating enemies level with you regardless of where you are on the map but again this isn't a Dark Souls type of game where you can mess up a build.

I think you need to double check your completed time. I cant wrap my head around how you would have killed all cultists, became #1 mercenary, finished all 3 main story plots, cleared every question mark, arena fights, underwater locations and viewpoints in 50 hours.

Honestly for your first five levels you need to play sneaky. Try to assassinate as many people as possible before getting detected because you lack the equipment or crowd control skills to do well in big brawls. Put a point into Shadow Assassin, a point into Sixth Sense, and a point into Sparta kick. Then hold off using more points until level 5. Then pick up Second Wind, Weapon Master, Rush Assassination. Wait until 10. Then pick up Hero Strike, Ring of Chaos, Critical Assassination. After that you can start doing what suits your fancy.

Remember that enemies give a pretty low amount of experience so don't feel like you have to kill them all. If you can complete your objective without engaging in combat, that's okay.

Respectfully disagree with Origins having more interesting locations. I feel like that was Odyssey's strength. The extra useless filler is what sorta killed the locations but the game had more awe inspiring areas. As for the characters, yes Bayek is better but I believe it's because Odyssey gave you the option to be male or female so it had repercussions on the overall story

I liked Origins a lot and I agree that it has a much better story and MC, but there were entire regions of the map that literally had nothing of interest in them. Just big empty terrain that doesn't have any collectibles, people, places, or even missions that send you there. Tbqh I was a little baffled by just how much of this there was. Like, Odyssey's radiant/filler quests were weird and often disjointed ("I'm too scared to jump in the water, please go kill X number of sharks anywhere in the entire ocean!" "The aristocrat laughed at my poem, go murder his wife now!") but at least they served a purpose in that they gave you a way to consistently grind for money and XP. Origins could have had a quarter of the map removed without affecting anything.

There probably are but they are not really needed and again it isn't a big deal. For very little money you can redistribute all of your skills so feel free to experiment.
