Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

I mean it isn't exactly "temporary". It was more an in universe thing they got to replicate the super powers in the virtual city into the real world that they just have now like they do all the other wacky shit they have on hand.

Also didn't play Gat Outta Hell but does The Boss get any more powers from that?

I don't know the terminology or details of the game. He doesn't get the Mech Suit but he can use his powers wherever since as I understand it in the game he eventually *can* use his powers wherever

Well okay I mean if the rule is he can just use his Saints Row 4 powers (though those were imparted within a simulation via hax like the matrix and he was only able to replicate some of the physical stuff like super jump and speed via the armor at the endgame) then yeah The Boss I think unless there is some wacky stuff from FF8 specific to Squall I am unsure. As far as I know in world he is just some stronger non enhanced soldier mercenary or something

sr4 boss didn't look that impressive when I looked into him (seemed lower than general Final Fantasy tier) but if he's that broken we can just kill his powers. he'd still have a ton of wacky shit to make him competitive

Saints Row 4 Boss wouldn't be out of place in Justice League. Saints Row everything else Boss is pretty much a GTA character on steroids

Superhero means next to nothing on its own. Thats pretty much on par with saying DBZ characters can beat anyone because they are stronger than gods.

I mean, superheroes range from the likes of Daredevil up to Superman.

Would you prefer it if I said 'Squall can't beat an archetypical superhero, of the sort that immediately comes to mind when you consider its platonic ideal, who also has a purple dildo and dubstep gun'? I feel the idea behind it was abundantly clear.
