Basically they said "Since we're not doing school properly this year, teachers get to decide what your grades are. Problem is teachers may or may not be accurate So they've created an "algorithm" that bumps your imaginary grade up or down based on the history of of grades of kids your age in that area for the past few years."

Problem is the result means poor public schools with shitty histories are dragging people's grades down. At the same time rich private ones are all being intentionally bumped up because "We can't use the algorithm on a class sample size that small so to compensate we have to raise everyone's predicted grades" and so now those school grades are performing better than ever.

Students are pissed.

Guy with predicted 4 A* grades got his cambridge offer recinded because the algorithm arbitrarily lowered his grades due to poor performances by someone else his age years ago.

Where's that guy the other day who was screaming at me how better the UK was than the US until people started pointing out facts to him and he ran off decaring everyone delusional?
