Nah. Just some tweaks that are overall an improvement.

You're comparing a difference in lighting. They moved the location of the light source. It's the exact same logic that lead people to believe Spider-man got downgraded.

We're talking about raytraced graphics, lighting will never be identical in comparison shots.

The screenshots look different because that's how dynamic lighting works. Doubly so for raytracing.

The character models pretty much look the same to me. Maybe you're looking at the lighting impacting the model?

Look at the dragon thing in the city. Its wings on the right picture look different because the lighting is making its wings translucent.

I'm not sure what detail you're saying is missing either. In the city the player is lower in the picture of the right so the signs are higher up. They both have a foggy/misty effect but the blue lights seem to have a bigger effect in the fog on the right picture.

They've completely changed the grass in the desert but it looks more natural in the right picture to me. Instead of big, red plants there's bigger patches of dry grass. The background isn't as visible and bright but it looks dusty so I'm pretty sure that's on purpose. The shadow under the tend looks more dark and natural too.

I think you're just seeing what you want to see.

I think the SSD is the difference. I don't really see a PS4 loading all of those different environments that smoothly.

It's a little bit more than that.

It looks like different DoF, different filter, and the environments themselves have been changed (bushes aren't even in the same place anymore)

It does not look like a polygon or particle downgrade though.

I don't doubt that the new Ratchet and Clank game used some bullshots - I don't think that part of the launch trailer where they're falling through the portal dimension is meant to be indicative of how the game with play or run. But I think the bullshots are going to matter just as much as "Puddlegate" did for Spider-Man - i.e. not at all.

Watch_Dogs was a bad time, especially since the HD textures used for the promotion were actually present in the released product. That was a game that was unequivocally sold on a standard that it deliberately failed to meet. Shit changes in development, and things needs to be pared down as more stuff gets added to the game and affects performance. Trying to frame every new game as the next Watch_Dogs, like a bunch of fuckwits did for Spider-Man, is stupid as hell.

I also thought Halo Infinite looked pretty great before they delayed it. One enemy looked particularly bad, and I feel like a lot of people latched onto that. But the game looked fast and fluid, and I genuinely thought it looked pretty great.

This isn't a big deal. There are games that pare themselves down from their pre-alpha release trailers, and there are games that flagrantly misrepresent their games with pre-rendered cutscenes that the game itself could never hope to achieve - look at Killzone 2 or CoD4 for example, or Watch_Dogs for one of the worst examples of false advertising. This isn't that big of a difference, and I think at worst it falls into the first category.

I hope they don't do that thing where the background stuff is all blurry and bloomed to hell and back, but the difference between that picture are like the puddles in Spider-Man. It's easy to point at it and nitpick it and say that the game is going to be a shitty, graphically broken mess that was sold on false pretenses, but the final product really won't be as bad as people are saying and it almost certainly won't be a Watch_Dogs situation.

The comparison that really gets me is the one on the ship. It seems the complaint there is that they got rid of a bunch of particle effects because the first picture is full of sparks which are missing in the second one.

But the entire video is full of so much crap flying around that I'd almost argue it's a detriment to the game.
