critical role isnt like that, or at least the second season isnt. no idea about the first, i havent watched it yet
but matthew mercer is a fantastic storyteller, his scenes are very vivid

C1 is just as good, but I feel like you'd miss out a good bit by just listening to the podcast instead of watching it.

The Glass Cannon is superb and Troy is the best GM of all time.

It's Pathfinder though, which is DnD under a different name.

nah i watch it, its just the episodes are like four hours long so i tend to watch a single episode over the course of a week or so. ive gotten pretty behind
the only reason why i havent watched season 1 yet is just cause i havent gotten around to it lul

I caught up to all of C2 in podcast form, then started listening to C1 on podcast. After COVID hit and I could work from home, I switched to watching it on Youtube. I can say with experience that you do miss out some stuff, but the players and the DM are good enough at setting the scene that it's not that big of a deal. Just wish I could see more of the battle maps Matt uses when I listen.

Huge fan of this group also.

Theyve been running a campaign for years now, but put it on hold during the pandemic and have been doing a different story over Skype as opposed to in person. It might be a good time to jump in and check them out and see if you want to check out the enormous other adventure.

Pathfinder is a fantastic system. Im never going to bother learning another tabletop rpg of that genre.

Hell, one could argue that the best parts of Critical Role are when Matt just stays quiet and the players have fun amongst themselves.
One could argue that, were it not for the amazing NPC work he does
