Chinese companies tend to cut corners when they aren't strictly watched and they aren't beholden to the same regulations as in the US, etc. However, when they're held to standard, they can make essentially the same product as anywhere else at a lower cost because the COL is cheaper there and the CCP also has what's essentially slave labor.

All things considered, I wouldn't buy a charger directly from a Chinese company and I'm a little leery about cheap ones in general. It's not an area where it's necessarily worth trying to save a few bucks.

It's part of the inevitable evolution of industrialization.

When nations first industrialize, they tend to churn out shit. The quality is low, but the cost is cheap, so people still buy it. Then, in theory, enough money pours in, they upgrade their industrial infrastructure, raise their standards, and their products go up both in quality and cost.

"Made in Japan" was one of the first examples of that - before most of us were born, something being made in Japan was shorthand for being absolute crap. Then Japanese production evolved, and it basically became pretty much the #1 producer of technology-based products. "Made in Japan" went from being a joke to being something impressive.

"Made in Taiwan" was the next one where an industrializing Asian nation sort of entered the field and was mostly treated like cheap mass-produced crap, but slowly improved to the point of being respectable. There was still a touch of negativity towards it when I was a kid in the 80s, but that's mostly gone now.

China's the one that's filled that spot for most of our lives, as China started fully industrializing and building tons of factories to bolster their economy.

Made in China is actually improving a bit at this point (though it's still pretty bad), while the bottom tier is starting to fill in with places like India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and a number of African nations. It's entirely possible that "Made in China" will actually be a mark of quality in 50 years or so.

I honestly really like electronics from china nowadays.

Not plastic or fabrics, but designed and produced electronic products are actually pretty damn good.

There is quality stuff coming out of China even today, but unless you're actually Chinese and in China it's hard to know if what you're getting is shit (and even then, a lot of Chinese people I know are wary of using anything Chinese). Quality control still isn't standardized, and I've heard horror stories of western companies investing a lot of money in Chinese manufacturing only to find out too late they got one of the shitty factories.

Yeah, you need to be incredibly specific when dealing with Chinese factories because they will say you didn't specify a minor thing and then cut every corner to it.
