Star Trek has always been lauded for their diverse casting. I say good move, as long as the characters are well-written and not overly clichd

There's even a 1992 TNG episode of a completely androgynous race, yet one member has feelings of being "female". .....And Riker enters a relationship with her. (Of course.) It turns into an allegory for LGBTQ discrimination and the alien is put through conversion therapy by her peers. Wouldn't the technology exist to just make anyone (who could afford it) be whatever gender they wanted to be? Like... a complete biological overhaul?
