i was listening to an ign podcast and one of the hosts said he was disappointed that they re-released super mario all stars on the snes channel, because those were "inferior versions" of those games, ok?
he didn't expand on why, and moved onto another topic, but are those game perceived as inferior? i always considered them largely the same, just with a nice new 16-bit paint job. why would they be considered "inferior"? --- ok? ... Copied to Clipboard!

I've heard that they play slightly different. It's the same complaint some people have with SM Maker. He's a purist.

I agree. The Super Mario Allstars + Super Mario World is clearly the superior version.
Anyway, it has been such a long time since I played the SNES versions after playing through the NES versions so many times in recent years. I love the 16 bit graphics and the sounds and music are awesome. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

All Stars is absolutely the better way of playing those games, it isn't even close.
I was very happy to see they released it on SNES Online the other day, never thought they'd do that. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiCtAUrZbUk -- Defeating the Running Man of Ocarina of Time in a race since 01/17/2009. -- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I might prefer SMB1 to it's All-Stars version, mostly due to the classic sound effects and 8-bit music. it has a certain charm that can't be matched and it's definitely lost in All-Stars.
SMB2 and 3 though are just plain better in All-Stars. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
