The only ones I can really think of are:

MGS:R
Jet Li: Rise to Honor (PS2)
Raiden in MGS2 >_>

Why aren't more games going in this direction though? The camera might be a problem.. losing whole swaths of potential movement like that is also a problem.. but it's such a fun way to play

Oh yeaahhh - I totally blanked on them two.. I was thinking of getting Nioh on sale (PSN) and thought why it was that they wouldn't do shit like that if they were gonna make a soulsthing

But then I found out that it's not really a soulslike thing

there was another game but tf I can't think of it atm

Nay. Ys 1 and 2 you use the dpad or left stick to run into enemies and hurt them. Everything past that (in the US anyway) has regular attack stuff

And no they arent like monster Hunter. They are fast paced action rpgs with a bit of metroid thrown in

i don't know, i only played Ys origins and didn't like it at all, lol

i think it's the left stick, actually. you move with the left stick, but also spin it around to do special attacks... not intuitive

Too Human, you see an enemy, point RS in their direction, and it does auto-combat

It was one of the stupidest combat systems i've ever seen in a game. You just hold the stick in one direction and it does the rest for you.

Wonder how things would happen on the PC without a controller then

I always thought games to use the r stick were in a league of it's own.. sort of like how VR is the future but it's not really everywhere or 'standard' >____________________>

Yeah, they changed it in the other versions to use buttons for the combat, but the original on ps2 used the right analog stick for every attack.

I remember this one PS2 game I remember always playing the demo for, Robot Alchemic Drive. IIRC the shoulder buttons control movement while both the sticks were used for attacking. I don't remember if it was any good, but I always thought it was a little charming how the characters control the robots with literal video game controllers, and half the battle was picking a good vantage point so you could actually see what you were doing while also not getting yeeted by alien robots.

Nice lol it's hard to try and find videos of someone actually holding a controller in hand and playing it - but it looks fun from what I saw skipping around in a YT video
