Tbh I don't care enough to bother learning to cook. If I lived on my own I'd just make salads, sandwiches, and crack open canned food all my life. I lost weight and saved money when I did that for about a year.

People have complimented me on my food on several occasions, not just in my home life but also while at work. My own assessment is that I try to understand the how and the why of certain things, such as the presence of some ingredients, when or how much to add, how much heat to use and for what length of time, and so on. I also try to make two or three things at once so they're ready at the same time, or close enough to it.

This is the part of cooking I struggle with the most. I'm getting better at it but having to focus on multiple pots and pans gives me a bit of anxiety

I can cook just fine, my problem is that I'm not very creative. So I just end up eating the same ~10 kinds of meals on loop.

Before my parents retired, they relied on me to prepare pork chops or chicken wings every now and again. For some reason, I always got the right ratio when it came to sprinkling on spices. I've copied down some recipes I'd like to try, but haven't gotten around to trying them.

Overall, no. Certain dishes I still need to learn not to overcook/dry out and others I need to be mindful of the seasoning/spiciness as I am not the only one eating it. What I make is not bad but I would not call it stellar either.

Yep. I just dont do it much anymore. Mainly because of time and energy. I do sometimes, though. And usually get complimented on it. I usually try to work on the same dish before moving to other ones, just so I know its good.

Though, I think Ill start cooking more again after I move...

Not really. I can follow instructions on the back of a packet but despite following recipes I still feel it's trial and error with me. I suppose most cooking is though but I still wouldn't say I'm good at it.
