I think he's more apathetic, but he'll say anything to make himself sound tougher than others, and since he's a draft dodger, he feels inclined to disparage people who served.

It's more accurate to say Trump doesn't like anyone. The moment your interests don't align with him you become an enemy to him and he lacks the intelligence or emotional capacity to realize when he is making bad decisions with groups who generally seem to be on his side.
