I was going to say at least you can fight as the champions fighting the elemental ganons but uh they get their asses kicked by them. Yiga grandmasters may work (but probably not the dude in BOTW). That's another struggle with the setting is that they don't really have real, unique enemies... They said they wanted to keep the character variety these games are known for so it should have a big roster even if most of them aren't in story mode. I really liked it because movesets basically are characters imo, but it had some cons like in multiplayer, which I played a ton of, it didn't allow multiple of the same character. I think the issue is less "Why aren't they still around" and more "Why did nobody mention them?" It would be easier to add someone who's, say, the captain of a particular army unit that gets shit done, but doesn't distinguish themselves to the same level as a 'hero', but someone who stands alongside Link as playing a significant role in turning the tide needs a reason to have faded into obscurity while the others became legend. Like I was saying with Linkle- her personality from HW1 could be made so that she thinks she's helping but doesn't really achieve anything.
