My friends have been telling me this for years, she even fucked one of my good friends after we broke up. Im a worthless janitor and I have nothing to offer. Its all downhill from here. Atleast it has been for the last decade or so

It's good to know that you have friends. One of the hardest things for me getting out of my depressive slump was believing I didn't have anyone I could talk to about this in my life.

Getting out of my slump required me to seek help, and have them ask me a simple question: is this what I want for my life? It took some time and work for me to realize that I still had control of my life and even if everything wasn't going to be great immediately, I didn't want to continue assuming it wouldn't be. It also made me realize that I had people in my life I could go to who have been offering to help but I couldn't hear it because I didn't want to be a burden to them.

Are among these friends some people you can confide about this? Can they help you find a new way to seek value out of life?

anyway, sadly society is like that, a female janitor would have no problem finding someone, but a male janitor would. But you know what? Screw them. Be happy by yourself! I've been in a bad place, but one thing I refused to do was blame others for it. It's that simple.

You've spent the better part of the topic railing against feminism and making damn sure we understand specifically the blame women have in this issue. You are also claiming that there are people in this topic saying women can do no wrong, when no one is doing that.

You are trying to make sure we know who to blame when blame should not be the focus of mental health.

Essentially, you are trying to foment a therapy of spite.

And I worry you're even doing it with dawgpound; focusing on his relationship and "the assholes" and trying to foster negative feelings for his ex as a sort of therapy. I myself am no therapist, but I've seen the result of people who try to carry on based on pure spite, and those people were not people I could live with.

So in short: I don't agree with your stance. I don't agree with the advice you're trying to provide, and I believe you're not at all equipped to help others in a positive manner.

why must you lie about my stance?

i clearly said SEVERAL TIMES that we need feminism and that feminism is very important. I even mentioned that women have to go through a lot of things. My ONE point was that feminism is mainly about women issues, (but that such a thing is fine, just like BLM is about anti-black racism, and said movement is very legit too) and therefore shutting down mens voices in this particular gamefaqs topic to talk about womens issues was poor taste, thats all I said, go back and re-read my posts.

2) look at you talking about truces (I didnt realize we were at war!) and you feeling you must get gamefaqs rid of me and telling me what topics I should be allowed to post in. Its almost like you have an axe to grind and are simply looking at anyone who might give you an excuse so you can go after them and vent some steam, all under the guise of fake righteousness

I mean if they're good they're good. I subscribe to Dollar Shave Club and while not hyper masculine, it is pretty handily marketed to men from a "nurturing outdoorsman" standpoint. I find the products work for me. Especially the razor and shave butter.

how can anyone itt just state their opinion as fact (about whether men vs women are more likely to hold men to unfair standards)? this is an empirical question and could be answered through social science research. (maybe its been answered already and just needs a good citation)

i couldnt get the full article below (Constructions of masculinity and their influence on men's well-being: a theory of gender and health) but my point is that theres research out there on these questions. theres data to support that mens health does get compromised by societal views and expectations of gender. there may even be conflicting data on the subject (shock)

So that stuck out to me as well, but the research I've seen does show women have more egalitarian attitudes towards gender roles. But this is based on survey responses to something called the AWS (attitude towards women survey) so I'm not sure if that would speak directly to the question of masculinity

It also seems well-researched that women have been much quicker to adopt masculine-stereotyped behavior and attitudes than men have feminine-stereotyped behavior and attitudes. I don't see much research aimed at looking at how women view male gender roles specifically though. I will probably dig more later
