Just started playing today, on Switch
- Boy, some of that UI text is small
- That said, the game has some pretty nice accessibility features. For example, you can turn off lightning if the flashing is something that causes you issues. It hasn't bothered me, but that's the sort of thing that has affected me in the past
- As for the game itself, I like some of its tactical ideas, but it's hard to know when exactly I'm in range of an enemy; sometimes they can move right up close and attack me in one go, sometimes they can just move and I'll be safe even within the outer limits of their range.
- There are separate concepts called memories, remembrances, and recollections. Entirely different things!
- Not usually into this brooding sort of style, but it hasn't put me off so far.
- My first run ended in frustrating fashion - I felt like I got defeated not because my tactics weren't good enough (though I certainly made errors) but because it was my first run and there was just no way to beat that boss with the resources available. Maybe that's a common feeling in roguelikes?

I never heard of this game until now. But it is getting great reviews and Im in the mood for a tactical game, although Im not good at them. XCom was making my eye twitch.

Ill check this game out, thanks.

Reviews and other people I've heard play it describe it as pretty punishing in terms of difficulty, but it did just get a new easier mode in an update (which hasn't yet arrived on Switch).

In terms of a comparison to XCom, a lot of recent tactics games have followed that formula, and you can see traces of it here, but I think it distinguishes itself pretty well. And it's all permasave, no loading and reloading like I was always keen to do in Xcom.

Its Ok, I probably just need to git gud.

I dont know if I want to pay full, release price. There are some games like Streets of Rage 4 that Id still like to pick up, plus Im guessing Othercide with get DLC eventually.

FWIW it's 20% off on Switch for the next week or two.

Ok, thanks.

These games make staying locked down much easier.

The atmosphere of the game seems like it'd get very exhausting very quickly.

Now on my second run, just beat the first boss. I rescind my earlier concern about the roguelike nature of this; I'd gotten a real dumb plan about how to defeat that boss into my head, and there was no way that was going to succeed.

It's Not For Me, but also hasn't put me off as much as I might have thought.

It's really clicking for me now. Closing in on boss #2. There's a lot of interesting decisions to be made in between battles, with the benefits to be gained by sacrificing characters.

Was cruising right along until the second boss handed me my ass. I'd earned enough currency to buy everything I'd unlocked for the next run, though. Kinda wish I'd been forced to make some choices there instead.
