I projected it onto everyone too, before I became numb and hopelessness disappeared. You can eventually realize feeling hopeless has no point and actually find yourself ditching the thinking pit. It might not be that your life is better overall, it's just you give up all the time you waste in self pity because you get past that phase. You basically make your new bottom just boredom and nothingness, but the hopelessness is gone at least. And believe me, it's a step up. That being said. My problem is not having ambition. I never had it. If I had that, Id probably be golden right now. Instead it's just meh, maybe Ill get there or maybe I wont.
