The one clinton tried to do failed, not because of clinton though, imo he was actually doing a really good job but there is so much you can do, eventually arafat declined what the israelis offered and that was the end of it.

The difference in clinton and trumps methods were that clinton seeked a compromise, which is what normal people do, but nothing in the middle east is normal, the problem with this method is that one side can simply demand more and more until his demands are met for the sake of peace, if you get X% of Y, you'll demand a bigger Y so your X% would be bigger, all of this of course is in a situation where refusing does you no harm. trump did the complete opposite of that, he basically said "screw you guys, i'm giving israel whatever they want until you come wanting actual peace", this of course flips the table entirely, now there IS harm in refusing because the longer they don't negotiate for peace the more israel gets, which means their X% which they will eventually get in the peace deal shrinks, so they better get to it, and if not, so be it.

You can't really compare both situations since trumps deal is with the uae and bahrain which are easier to get than the plo, but it's still thanks to trumps (or more specifically kushners) "peace through strength" tactic that arab countries are now getting out there and making peace with israel (after many decades the arab world boycotted israel and issued the famous 3 no's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_Arab_League_summit ).

in fact all of israels peace deals were through strength rather than compromise, only difference is this trump peace deal didn't follow a bloody war.
