How are these handled? Are they covered? Will the hospital see you right away?

I'm sure cases like this have happened in the US. If it's an emergency and you are dying they will save you and figure out the charges after.

Yes, but someone could have told me that well before a doctor saw me 2.5 hours into waiting between two different rooms. And now Im no further ahead.

Just know, if someone else on a forklift clips you, and you have to go the comp route...if you've had the audacity to smoke weed in the past month whether it's legal in your state or not...if you piss "dirty", it'll be entirely your fault...

Yes. I dont smoke. The place Im at now doesnt drug test to hire, either. They didnt even ask to see my license when I said I have a Class 1 and started sending me out in the ten speed lol.

Uhh, doctors in Canada definitely do fill out worker's comp forms. Maybe not ER doctors, since they usually have non-paperwork emergencies to deal with, but some manner of primary care physician will handle it (whether your regular family doctor or a walk-in clinic if you don't have one). If you're having trouble figuring it out, contact your worker's comp agency and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Well thats where I was, emerg, because my doctor closes her doors an hour minimum before I finish work and reception doesnt answer the phone or puts me on hold for fifteen minutes while Im working.

Worker's comp often covers time lost seeking medical attention, too, so if you have to take time off work to get to your doctor, I would expect that to be reimbursed. Again, though, I'd suggest contacting them directly to get that information from a more reliable source.

Pretty sure work wants to avoid a lost-time injury on their record and I dont blame them. Im still relatively new there as well. I took a hard road through the mountains to get to a delivery and jarred my thumb pretty bad on wheel. The washboard gravel caused by logging trucks made the road awful to drive. I lost the stick and the wheel, and the truck wasnt stopping because the tires were skipping off the ground. It wasnt fun at all.

Sometimes companies will try to deflect blame. You'll be treated, but after the fact you could be hit with the bill, then you need to contest it and likely sue your company. There are lawyers that'll take your case pro bono but it's a lengthy process that impact you negatively for possibly decades

Never been injured on the job (well... enough to warrant care, anyway), but they usually send you to specific places associated with their plan (because the company has insurance related to that) so it's going to be a lot different from a country with nationalized healthcare. And anything really serious would be treated like any other serious medical issue.

Honestly, that doesn't even sound like it would actually warrant a worker's comp claim, except possibly for time lost going to the ER (which your work could just pay you for if they ant to avoid the blemish on their record). Presumably, you didn't have to pay to get it checked out, treatment is just splinting it and being careful for the next couple weeks, and it's unlikely you'll suffer any serious long-term consequences, so I wouldn't expect much by way of monetary costs. It's probably still not a bad idea to get the forms filled out so the whole incident is documented if you do develop long-term issues and need to seek compensation somewhere down the line, but I wouldn't think there's much rush on that.

No coverage for either if theyre in a vehicle.

#19 would make more sense if it had anything at all to do with anything in this thread.
