5 and even 6 aren't always a big deal as far as I'm concerned, but they are a lot more common here, multiple small quakes a year

That was my first thought reading the title ngl.

I was remembering the first one I felt, and it was a minor one but yeah...

We had a small earthquake in southern Alberta a few summers ago. I know what I was doing at the exact time it happened (brushing my teeth, right before bed), but I didn't even feel it lmao.

I found out there was an earthquake by checking Facebook right before going to bed and seeing everyone posting videos of things rocking back and forth in their homes. Maybe I just ignored the rocking feeling, thinking I just had dizziness or something idk.

It was scary. Ever since the Northridge earthquake last century, every slight shaking scares me.

I've never been in any REALLY big ones, but once I was sitting in a chair next to a table with a huge vase on it, and an earthquake hit and the vase fell over and pinned me to the chair so I couldn't move. I wasn't hurt, luckily.

As a Southern Californian, every time we feel a little shake I get reminded I really need to create a dedicated earthquake kit / bug out bag. I have the equipment but they are scattered about. Might be worth the extra cost to buy duplicates of certain supplies to just leave in the kit/bag.
