flyover states stop doing things that negatively impact the rest of the country (not wearing masks during pandemics, racist shootings going unpunished, anti abortion/gay marriage) and on top of that the electoral college goes away and the president is elected based off the majority

have the US just be one big country with zero states or if they want divide it like canada and have 4 or 5 providences

sigh.

no. without states being able to experiment and show the rest that changes aren't the literal end of civilization, progress slows to a halt.

we'd likely be decade away from queer equality or cannabis decriminalization without states rights.

the president has no actual power, and those who do are elected by popular votes.

edit: let me rephrase. the president has no power to create policy changes. only to make suggestions and, barring a strong opposition, the power to stop changes. the president can only force the status quo.

Nope, NYC had a higher death rate than some European countries (double France's) and statewide has the one of the highest number of deaths. You're a low information shitposting.

even if that were true, i'm sure the fact this happened at the beginning of the virus when no one was prepared while at the same time the state was unfortunate enough to have a governor that was an enemy of a president who refused to hand out federal aid based off petty party lines.

NYC curbed the virus faster than anyone while places like florida and texas just watched their people die. go post on MAGA

so I take it you agree with governor desantis's decision to let his idiots run around with zero masks during a spiking pandemic?

or is this one of those "small price" situations to protect the "greater good" some people would excuse it for?

here's the part you seem to be missing...

what if Ron DeSantis was president right now? you keep assuming the people in charge are going to agree with you.

you seem awfully sure of that, when the last 8 elections have all been within 10M votes, and the average of those is a little over 5M votes, and no party has held the presidency for more than 3 consecutive terms since the 1950s.

taking away the rights of states to take away people's rights. people have rights. states don't. think of all the girls in red states who can't get abortions and need them. "state rights" is infringing on citizen rights

Right, and we vote at the state level who represents us in Washington, so that just reinforces your point.
