Back in 2002, I thought it was actually pretty great.

I haven't gotten to it yet as I'm still replaying 64, should finish that up this week. That said, I'm looking forward to reassessing Sunshine. I remember liking but not loving it, we'll see.

My only gripes are the lack of blue coin tracking and the water/tropical theme gets old. That and the fucking pachinko level, but I managed to beat it on my 3rd try this time.
I highly enjoy SMS and Mario controls like a dream. Doing tall jumps is sooo satisfying, more than any other 3D Mario.
