you know, mechanically it's fine. But as a kid I hated the atmosphere.
In my most recent play through, SSL was probably my least favorite level, which surprised me. It used to be wet dry world, since water height gimmicks always piss me off (water temple ). But I've realized you barely need to mess with the water height very much if you know what you're doing. SSL just has a lot of annoying aspects about it and boring stars. All the quick sand, getting on the pillars to get in the pyramid, the bird trying to steal your hat, the risk of running short of coins when going for 100 in the pyramid, the dumb walkways with the cubes, etc. That is too say it isn't that bad, but if I had to pick a least favorite that's definitely the one. --- <insert sig here> ... Who is voting yes? It's ugly, forgettable, and not fun at any point.

It's OK, I guess, but I would have liked it if it were actually more maze-like as the name implies, as I really dig maze levels in platformers. As it stands, the map panels sprinkled around the stage are little more than wall decorations and completely ignorable. They should have actually played an integral part in figuring out where the heck you have to go to since you're helplessly lost otherwise.
But then again, maybe that's an unreal expectation to have on video game technology of the time. --- Link meets Fire Emblem in CYOA: Tales of Elibe! Come read, and find out what happens! Click below! https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/468480-fire-emblem/77111212 ... Copied to Clipboard!

I mean technically, the hazy part is a maze. There are dead ends and you have to figure where to go without suffocating on the gas.

The lochness monster terrified me because I was convinced it would eat Mario if you were in the water in front of it.
