The Mayans didn't have an end of the world prediction. The calendar didn't go past a certain point but they didn't think all existence was going to just end after that.

2012 was their prediction. 2012 wasn't a prediction. the way they do time, it was just the end of one 394 year grouping and the beginning of the next. whether those groupings have any actual meaning is a matter of faith one order lower is a grouping of 20 years. one order higher is almost 8000 years. --- Boom!
