Do you agree with him that there's too many hippos and heifers in the United States?

Whole Foods CEO, John Mackey made a shocking reasoning to why Americans are seeing the highest rates of deaths from COVID-19 and claims it's because Americans are FATTER and UNHEALTHIER than the rest of the world!!

He co-founded the organic supermarket chain in 1980 before selling it to Amazon in 2017 and said the country is hit worse from the pandemic cause people suffer from diabetes and heart disease brought on by poor diets

The 67 y/o is a known advocate for organic foods and said the US is in the wrong direction when it comes to eating habits in the last 50 years

He said "Statistically, we moved in the wrong direction. The whole world is getting fat, it's just that Americans are at the leading edge of that. We're getting fat and we're getting sicker. There's a very high correlation between obesity and COVID deaths. And one of the reasons is the United States has had more of a problem with it is simply the comorbidities like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, they're just higher in the US"

The US has hit a grim milestone of more than 200,000 deaths with 7 million cases as health experts said people with underlying conditions such as the one mentioned by the CEO are linked to it

Mackey doesn't think it's lack of access or affordability from healthy foods but the education to it as people have to become wiser on what they eat and the market that provides it.

He's a libertarian who supports a free market economy and said the organic supermarket opened up in locations of inner cities and poor areas but consumers still opt for unhealthy options

He said It's like being an alcoholic. People are just not conscious of the fact that they have food addictions and need to do anything about it. What we can do is do what we do. We can sell healthy food to people. Business could be doing a lot more in certain areas if it was allowed to, like education and healthcare. Those are very highly regulated businesses"

Do you agree with him that there's too many hippos and heifers in the United States?

I used to work at Whole Foods. The company had potential. Good benefits, good place to meet friends, a seemingly good code of ethics. But Mackey's idea of "conscious capitalism" is bogus, nevermind the Amazon takeover accelerating the decline. That dude is honestly nuts. I actually got to meet him once as he and some other higher ups did a tour of our store (we were the newest and one of the largest Whole Foods in Silicon Valley).

Here's one of my favorite stories involving John Mackey: we were have a store meeting that was going to be "extra special" because John Mackey was going to livestream a short speech and then do a Q&A with team members. Since it was an all store meeting and we're a grocery store, it was done before we opened, so we're all here at 6am. After Mackey gives his predictably boring spiel one of the people asks "what do you like to do in your free time?" And to a team of 200+ people he does not know his answer, without a hint of irony or humor, is "masturbate." A single word. And onto the next question. It was awkward, surreal, and uncomfortable. If meant for humor, it completely missed the mark. But anyway, that's John Mackey for you.

I actually respect him a little more for that. Gave a true answer and didn't care about corporate niceties or that you all were in a grocery store where they serve gallons of milk. He just went for it.

yaknow, if obese people have a disproportionate death rate to COVID that could be evidence that it was a bioweapon specifically for attacking America

I primarily go to whole foods for broccoli because it's actually cheaper there ($1.49/lb) than the basic big chain grocery stores
