Xbox isn't going anywhere cause they make money off PC gamers as well with GamePass and Microsoft Store.

Exclusives are not made for the consumer, theyre made for the business. They are anti-consumer actually. The purpose is to get to buy their console so businesses will pay for exclusivity rights because its profitable to do so.

Nintendo has released 2 consoles since PS4/X1 came out... it's not 2 years but the life span of Nintendo's consoles are shorter and there's rumors of a new Switch coming out next year.

I'm sorry, my point was Microsoft doesn't care if they don't make money off console sales, they make more than that off gamepass and publishing games, so they'll keep doing Xbox regardless of losses.

Besides that though, there are other factors that keep competition other than exclusives. In fact, exclusives suck because they hold back even more competition. Without exclusives the competition would be more about which console is superior in technology and services rather than the games they pay so for so that others can't play, which would ultimately be better for consumers. Just imagine if Nintendo had no exclusives and instead they had to put out a console with actually good specs, this means that their games would be better because they wouldn't be held back by massively inferior specs compared to PlayStation and Xbox.

Depends. If the first parties are investing their money into actually creating content for their platforms then yeah they're great.

If they're spending money for timed exclusives or DLC it's a bit shitty. Especially if the game is already announced for the platform in question.

For the industry? I'm not sure. For consumers? Not at all.

As far as the industry is concerned, they get off the hook for having to provide higher quality hardware, better services and competing with price because of exclusives. It's great for them-- although it's noteworthy that PC gaming has outpaced XB, PS and Nintendo combined for the last 8 years running.

Either buy more systems or dont worry about games you missed on the other system.

Im probably going to try for a cheap xbox one to play the games i missed there but theres plenty of ps4.

Hell all the systems have plenty of games so literally just buy for the exclusives you want.
