I've gotten contacted by a lot of people about voting. Clearly I'm on some kind of Texas lib contact list. I figure they're trying to collect mail ballots and drop them off for people.

i mean do you enjoy badly run states like califronia? they have raging wildfires each year, rank 48th in national average iq (education system is shit), have the highest homeless population, hold the most debt, highest pollution, and trying their damnedest to legalize pedophilia
If it's not suppressing votes, why would it be stopping Texas from being California?

Are those jobs being created in the liberal President conservative parts of texas ;)

What does this have to do with voter suppression? You think having one drop box for 4 million people is the way to do it?

Easier to regulate for one. Secondly there shouldn't be mail-in ballots at all. Saw lots of Twitter posts where people received over half a dozen ballots at the same address. And we already have absentee ballots and we've already seen plenty of those being thrown in ditches and trash bins, and people buying them by the thousands.

In Texas, you have to request one whether you're voting by mail or voting absentee. There is no difference in Texas.

You do realize that election officials have no right to question a voters statement of disability when requesting absentee ballots in Texas, right? Literally anyone can request them and get them, they don't have to disclose their disability at all.

People against mail-in ballots but for absentee ballots don't realize that they function exactly the same, and the ridiculously vague and broad requirements to request absentee ballots make it so pretty much anyone can get them.

The fact of the matter is that we have multiple documented incidents of Republicans trying multiple blatant methods of voter suppression ever since the voting rights act was gutted.

Actual voter fraud incidents have been few and far in between. And many of those incidents have been Republican voters trying to vote illegally.

And just to drive this point home because I'm honestly tired of seeing that dumb ass point made... This is an actual card I received from the USPS in Texas:

Again, in Texas, you have to request a ballot whether you're voting by mail or voting absentee. The only difference between the two is that:
  • Voting by mail: You're still going to be in the county you live in and you're mailing your ballot in.
  • Voting absentee: You aren't going to be in the county you live in and you're mailing your ballot in.

The ballot is the same. The process is the same. You have to request the ballot either way. So I hope this dumb ass "BuT mAiL iN bAlLoTs AnD aBsEnTeE bAlLoTs ArE toTaLlY dIfFeRrEnt" argument dies out at some point.

I know it won't, but I can dream. Tired of the dumb shit people bring up in attempt to justify voter suppression.

Yes I know that. They're known as "no-excuse" absentee ballots, and the reason is they're better is because requests can be tracked and are more likely to be sent to the right people than just using voter registration information. Whereas mail-in voting is like an invitation without an RSVP. But even absentee ballots are vulnerable to being discarded and harvested, as we've seen multiple stories and evidence of this in action.

This is what happens when you let states and counties mail ballots to everyone.
