Just so they can say "look, we're willing to go from 0.5T to 1.6T (which I believe is the current offer) to make it seem like they are budging a lot, which it's actually not very far from their actual original position.

But the real bottom line is that MORE help is needed than the republicans are offering. When Disney has to lay-off nearly 30,000 employees, and other large companies are on the verge of insolvency (with more to follow) the fact is that it would be better to provide MORE help than the republicans feel is necessary rather than provide LESS help than the democrats feel is the bare minimum.

That was not the assertion. The assertion was that they should make an agreement and Pelosi hasn't budged in a long time while Republicans have multiple times. Now, that doesn't mean Pelosi's deal might not be better. It likely is in most spots. However, the nothing is better than something approach doesn't make sense. They say repeatedly they are confident that they win the senate and the white house. If so, they will get everything they want down the road anyways. Get something now.
