Yes because this time they'll be able to use the X-Men and other previously Fox owned Marvel characters. MvCI mostly failed because consumers were too stupid to understand why Capcom couldn't use those characters before.

Disney would have anyone and everyone by the balls, and you'd be stupid to go against you.

Its not on consumers to understand why a company is making a business decision and make a purchase based on that understanding. Its on a business to provide a product that consumers are willing to purchase.

They left out some of the biggest names from the history of the series (Doctor Doom, Wolverine, Magneto) just to push a larger business agenda. Consumers reacted by not purchasing it. Simple as that.

Besides, there were plenty of other reasons why the game failed...

Seemingly just pulling several character models from MvC3, rather than giving new characters for a fresh experiences.

The illusion of taking the series back a step, going from 3v3 to 2v2.

Capcom went into it with a bad recent track record for fighting games and DLC practices at launch. See also Street Fighter x Tekken (locked DLC on disc) and Street Fighter V (released an incomplete game).

Dragon Ball Fighterz was coming out at the same time and destroyed it from a prelaunch hype perspective.
