It's similar to how toph was the only metal bender because everyone else was a noob, in Korra everyone knows how to do stuff because the knowledge was spread and expanded upon, with the exception to blood bending because it's so god damn OP. It's clear blood bending also got stronger since Yakone was teaching his kids how to do it in the tundra. Don't know how he found out about it, but maybe he was genetically blessed or probably one of the strongest water benders. It's pretty rare to see someone bend with no freaking body movement, much less no hand movement AND put down the Avatar pre avatar state. Takes a god damn lot to do that. Oh yeah, he also did it to an entire fucking court room without moving his hands or body OR EVEN SEEING THE GOD DAMN PEOPLE BEHIND HIM. The dude was a fucking beast. God of Water Benders in my eyes. I can't think of anyone with a feat stronger than that.
