the card is 23 years old. it's from the set that sold out pretty much instantly. it was printed without causing flaws. it was packaged without causing flaws. it was unpackaged without causing flaws. it was possessed without causing flaws for 20+ years.

if you want to buy that card to play with, it'll cost you a couple hundred dollars. this is a trophy.

damn this post almost inspired me to become a card collector

Look at online auctions/sales and see what has recently sold. That said, for all collectable cards condition is a big factor and that can drastically change how much it is worth.

That's a graded 10 shadowless Charizard 1st edition. I recommend looking up what it meant for a card to be shadowless in Pokemon 1st set. On their first few prints, they didn't put shadow around the border of the card art in the design. It's basically as early print as you could possibly get while also perfectly printed and cut (while also being the highest rarity of the set and the most popular card in general. Most shadowless foils are mega expensive but not even close to Charizard)

there are 53 copies of this out there. i'm actually quite surprised it's that high. almost 3000 have been submitted.

The funny thing is that there are rarer cards than a "perfect" 1st edition Charizard but they are worth less since they are not 120HP, 100 damage Charizard.

Oh I dunno, they were alphas since they had the fat rounded corners. This was around 93 or 94.

Good investment tbh

This made me go and look at my old binder of cards. I have like 13 1st editions but I don't think any of them are very rare (no holo or shadowless 1st editions). Also have around the same amount of holos, including a shadowless Alakazam. I imagine that's worth the most.

I had a friend who bought a pack opened it got one of these beauties, then sold it for $100 spent it all on cards and got another one. Its pretty crazy in retrospect, thing is he was a slob and i watched his dad toss all of his cards because he refused to clean them up.

I remember when I grew out of Pokmon cards so I just traded my entire collection away to a friend for a copy of Microsoft flight simulator and the joystick/pedals. Looking back I think I made a bad trade.

I somehow managed to get a huge deck of pokemon card in 5th grade without buying a single one. My friends would give me cards they didn't want and then I'd battle other people and win their cards. But I let someone borrow my deck and then they moved away without giving it back lol

some are, some aren't. wizards era (gens 1 and 2) holo rares are your best bet. Jungle and Fossil are generally worse than Base Set, otherwise it's mostly about how popular the pokemon itself is.

never had that Charizard. I know I had a holographic Raichu and pretty sure a Mewtwo also but I don't know what they are worth now.
