First of all, I'd like to follow board 8ers (though you guys prob don't want to follow me, I'm mostly using my streams for chinese learning and it's awful)

Second, I'm wondering how hosting works? Is that like a way to have you and a friend's channel run the same stream? Is there a way to do that?

I will probably have a bunch more questions but I can't think of them now so I have to post the topic so I can think of them later.

I'm more of a spectator, though I occasionally stream something I'm doing. Usually Saturdays when I'm playing a randomizer race with other LTTP people.

What do you mean by friend and you running the same stream? Hosting is one person streaming and the other person letting their viewers watch it on their channel. It's usually used when larger streamers want to have something on their channel when they're off, or when someone ends their stream. However, more frequently, when someone ends their stream, they use a RAID instead. The only difference is that host keeps the viewers on your channel, whereas raid pushes them off onto the new person.

I'm trying to do some collabs with my sister, just thought there was a way to maybe have one stream broadcast on two channels

I'm not sure exactly what your goal is, but here are your options as I see them:

1) Hosting -- one person is "the streamer" and the other person's channel serves as a second portal for that stream
2) Both stream -- presumably, the content will be slightly different if you do this. The audio might match up if you're in voice chat together, but the video would not.
3) Restreaming -- If you've ever seen a stream that was showing multiple people playing at the same time, there was restreaming involved. A super lazy analogy would be if an outsider watched the streams of four people at once, set them up in four corners of his screen, and then streamed what he had showing. (It's not actually that crude, but this is like what happens.)

What you're looking for on twitch is called "squad mode", but it's only available if every stream involved it's some level of partner with twitch, which is why most people default to the workarounds azuarc posted

ah gotcha. Are most features unlocked when you reach affiliate? Things like emotes and those cool bars that fill up when people donate?
