you really dont even need to do much to make a difference. walk around a little more (like if you have to take a few things in the next room only take one so you have to walk back for the other things) and cut back on the portions you eat. you dont even need to completely cut out stuff like suger or carbs (obviously it dramatically helps), just cut down on how much of it you eat. you can lose a few pounds a week pretty effortlessly doing so.

I've been dieting and lost 30 lbs since May. Maybe I can help. Here's what I've been doing

- water and coffee are your friends. Stay away from soda and juices. Especially juices, they are very high in calories. I recommend seltzer water
- I personally count my calories. that way I know exactly what's going in my body, and I can keep track easier. Counting calories really isnt hard at all, anything you buy at the store has the amount of calories on the package
- any food you buy right now, chances are there's probably a lower calorie option.
- it's completely okay to go hungry. Animals in the wild go without food for long periods of time, so it's perfectly healthy for humans to do the same, as long as you're not literally starving
- you do still have to enjoy the food that you eat. you shorty food that has lower calories, but don't eat food that you hate, because you won't enjoy it. there are lower calorie options that you will still enjoy

Dieting is definitely doable. It's a matter of calories in, calories out. I'm not a nutritional expert, so not well educated on other nutritional stuff, but as long as you stay on a calorie deficit, you will lose weight guaranteed. I personally never go over 1400 calories. And it has been successful for me.

No difference, I'm just merely curious. But if you don't want to answer the question then it's not like I can't force you to answer or anything

It takes longer to gain weight than to lose weight tbh.

Just go ahead and start now losing the weight. In a year you'll be back to normal and you've got a lot of life left to live.

After you get back to a normal weight, just make sure you weigh yourself every day so that you never get off track and gain it back again.

Well, I just weigh myself every once in awhile to make sure I'm losing weight. It's a motivating, otherwise you don't know whether it's working or not. Why do you think it's a waste of time?

Because I don't find my weight lost motivating.

It's like if somebody went to school and they failed every class they ever took, but after putting in months of effort they went from getting a 20% score failure to a 25% score failure. It's still a failure. It's not really better in any way when it comes to the report card.

If I try to tell myself a positive story when looking at my weight loss ("it's going to feel so nice when you aren't fat and feel attractive") my mind just goes "who are you kidding? you are a fat loser, and you always will be. All hope does is make you vulnerable to the next failure you know is coming. Give it up, dumbass, if your life was ever going to be good you would've needed to make it happen years ago."

Oh, when it comes to video games I almost always do the hardest mode possible. I love a good challenge. Hell I've done some insane challenges many people wouldn't even consider.

But there are 4 main differences with a game:
  1. Progress can be made in the game in a much smaller timescale
  2. The progress in the game is undeniable, there is no "that was probably just water weight lost" equivalent.
  3. The rules for progress are perfectly clear
  4. You don't lose progress in games. Even before I was super depressed and I still enjoyed games if the game required me to log in EVERY DAY NO EXCEPTIONS that would cease to be rewarding and I probably wouldn't do it.

Of course, it's just a game

This is real life, but you can still treat it like Bloodborne and enjoy the misery the same way :P

You went out of yer way to find reasons to disagree you know >_> but trust me man, some things require no logic.. no sense.. but y'know.. I don't actually believe you lose progress like that tbh

Even small workouts break down muscle and build it up stronger - I don't have abs and have a layer over them, I can do crunches and never see the muscle that I'm potentially building up underneath

The same goes for your feet, in fact - you come out stronger having worked out at a heavier weight and building up resilience and resistance.. eventually you will have the feet of a GAWD by the time you get to where you wanna be and you'll probably go distances you never even imagined. I'm a twig and envy those who call themselves big because they have the potential to get crazy muscle gain than someone who is a twig

At the moment I feel like no progress is saved because you didn't even turn on the game console friend and I hope you know I truly mean that as someone who truly would like to just know yer happy.. it's like finding a pristine TV from 1927 never opened from the box and the second you turn it on it just goes kablooey

Don't let the days go by saving it in the box, might as well turn the thing on and enjoy it for 10 years than keep it in a box never used for 80

Here's some music for you, sing the words over and over out of pure enjoyment first and when you start working out and it gets tough sing them push through and sing this song:

Just use this site and fill out your height/weight:

https://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html

This will give you an idea of how many calories you would intake per day. I wouldn't go under 1400 a day though.

actually, you know what m8 here is some advice for the mental aspect that at least helps me out:

By now I know that I will probably get invested in the media that I watch/play/listen to. I'm a musician so I absolutely treasure beautiful music but that also means some of that music tends to be really sad stuff that reminds me of not so great things. I try my best to not actually put that sort of music on when I'm on my lowest or starting out my day and actually, I will just hype myself up throughout the day with other music

Sometimes by accident I put a tune on and y'know, it is what it is - but I've conciously said to myself 'alright, I'm just not gonna put this on'

And actually, I was going to play Bloodborne just now for like 20 minutes since I started a new play through yesterday. I just got back to my seat and said 'you know what, I'm just not gonna do that'

I really love the art direction, the game play, the sounds.. everything! But I also love the game so much that I do get invested in the whole nature of the beast/old blood thing so I obviously wonder and ponder about the world the game takes place in and think of how cool those vicious beasts look like

But I really said to myself, man why would I play such a dark thing right now while I'm enjoying birds and my cup-o-joseph

I figured the playthrough will be much, much sweeter if I just let myself build up to it.. the same way for a sad song.. I build myself up throughout the day and try not to put songs that make me ;_; in the middle of my day because it'll kill my vibe

It's a tricky thing - some days my mind is in the shitter and I really gotta do that^ and some days, after failing and practicing to get to this point, I can just go about without having to think as much lol

make of that what you will

Why not put the time and energy spent complaining about it into getting some exercise?

Eat healthily, get some exercise.

You need to make exercise a habit. Start small and work your way up. Get active.

At the very least, how much/what do you eat during the day, and how active are you?

I'll say that exercise is something I never really look forward to doing, but I always feel much better after I do it. It's much easier to motivate myself to do it because of this, as there is in fact a tangible daily benefit beyond whatever distant goal I've set. Go walk a few miles and tell me you don't feel better afterwards. I wouldn't believe you.

fyi you dont need to exercize to lose weight. it helps but its not a necessity

source: i ran 2 miles every day and dieted. lost about 5 pounds a month. one month i stopped but kept dieting. lost 4 pounds.

whether or not im exercizing enough doesnt matter, i still lost weight. just slower.

I went from 250 to 175 lbs with muscle because I tried to put pictures of me hiking British Columbia on Tinder one day and realized I was a fat ass and had to do something to change. Not one of my friends have asked me how I did it or for advice but they are content with asking other fat people for weight loss advice because it is comforting or a temporarily fast fix. You have to ask yourself op whether you really want to lose weight or are you just complaining.

It's a slog on day 1 and a slog on day 20. And I don't think people who sustain these things do so hating every moment of every day doing it.
People consistently sustain behavior they hate all of the time. Some people do hate it every single day and keep doing it.

How many years of slog before I get to be happy?
Youre right. Instead of spending 2-3 years to take care of your physical health then be happy the rest of your life, you should totally just give up now and be unhappy forever. Being unhappy forever is better than being unhappy for a couple of years right? Hey, who knows, if you continue to ignore your physical health and well being, you might not live that long anyways.
