As a paid feature, a self-destruct trigger will be installed on the battery, i guess laptop batteries can cause a small explotion enough to destroy all the components and injure anyone nearby.
I still don't know what should activate the trigger...

And Microsoft wonders why I, and others, refuse to install their obtrusive updates.

Yes. This feature idea would never, ever be abused by malicious people.

Could just shoot it with a few shells or burn it? The feature would be just a nicer way of going about it.

Yeah, especially Edge. Unfortunately you have to know exactly what you are doing to uninstall it if you have the latest Windows update. They disabled the regular ways of uninstalling it.

I'm still annoyed that they took away the option to disable Cortana. They included it in the first place, meaning they obviously know that people are going to want to get rid of it, but then got butthurt that so many people turned it off and took that option away. Disabling it now means tearing out its still-beating heart in Regedit, which I happily do whenever I'm configuring a new Windows 10 machine.

The CIA would love this idea. Have some foreign enemy in power you don't like? Just send them a welcoming laptop gift!

Would it play the original Resident Evil 2 self destruct theme and message? Because it'd be mighty tempting then...

You can do that, you just have to bypass every single lithium ion battery protective controller by drilling into the metal casings and wiring them to a custom controller that hooks up to your computer and let's you detonate (they would burst into flames, not explode) them all by shorting them out at once.

It would hurt the user's lap but it probably wouldn't destroy the laptop or hard drive. A better option would be to install Linux and encrypt the hard drive so the data is useless to anyone who doesn't know the password.

Edit I'm thinking of the old-school computers with the removable battery packs... the new ones would definitely destroy the MB at the very least.

By the way, I was originally going to remark in this topic that the self-destruct is called its warranty expiration date, but that's not really optional, is it?
